Several years ago, I completed a routine treadmill stress test. The cardiologist said, “I can’t believe I’m telling a person as young as you are that she has heart disease…” The truth is, one week prior my husband abruptly left our marriage and moved out of our home without warning. As I comprehended what the cardiologist was telling me, I knew on some level that today’s results were the findings of a broken heart.
Three years later I re-took that grueling treadmill stress test. The same cardiologist was taken aback as he looked from the ultrasound screen to the notes in my file. He stated, “I can tell you, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your heart”.
This story is not to scrutinize or second guess a medical opinion. It’s to illustrate the power of energy as it relates to our life’s traumas and unresolved emotional events. To keep it all in perspective, my intuitive sense is the result of many years of energy healing which included a lot of personal work and various alternative healing therapies. Alternative and Energetic Healing are woven into the very fabric of who I am.
So, what is energetic healing? Simply put, it’s the movement of life force ‘energy’ within a recipient’s body to re-establish unrestricted flow of this same energy.
If this force is indeed life force, then of course we want our bodies to experience unrestricted flow of this nourishing yet unseen essence. Like breath, it carries healing elements that enhance our overall sense of wellbeing, enriching our physical, emotional and spiritual self.
In the case of therapeutic massage or other ‘hands on’ body work such as Reiki, this energy travels through the practitioner’s hands and into the recipient’s body to allow an opportunity for a state of wellbeing. In other modalities. the congealed energetic charge around a traumatic event or memory is dissipated with intentional and specific hand or body movement techniques. In preparation for further healing, some modalities may bring the traumatic thoughts to light so we can process the event and it’s resulting distortion in a healthy way.
Regardless of which modality or where it is attending to your care, when our energy pathways are distorted, gnarled into an unhealthy flow, our physical, mental, emotional and ultimately our spiritual bodies are negatively affected.
Evidence is slowly being documented, specifically if the modality is used in conjunction with therapies in the medical profession. For example, Reiki has gained popularity and has shown promise as a noninvasive tool for healing at the physical and nonphysical levels, particularly regarding the alleviation of pain, depression, and anxiety.
Anecdotal evidence among those in the energetic healing community is more prolific.
Here’s another example from a Body Code Practitioner.
